The Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) First-Time Home Buyers’ (FTHB) Program is a one-time grant that helps eligible Métis citizens in Saskatchewan purchase their first home:
- Down payment: Up to $15,000 toward a down payment
- Closing costs: Up to $2,500 toward closing costs, such as legal fees, land transfer costs, and home inspection
- Referrals: Assistance in finding local professionals, such as realtors, bankers, and mortgage brokers
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Have a gross debt service (GDS) of under 32%
- Have a total debt service (TDS) of under 42%
- Have a gross annual household income for all future residents that doesn’t exceed $150,000
- Not have purchased a home before being approved for the program
The application process includes a home inspection report to prioritize needs. Individuals looking for cosmetic fixes are not eligible.
